Frontiers of Structural and Civil Engineering 2022, Volume 16, Issue 5,   Pages 615-623 doi: 10.1007/s11709-022-0828-y

Abstract: The aim of this study is to develop concrete composites that are resistant to armor-piercing projectiles for defense structures. Different reinforcement configurations have been tested, such as short steel fibers, long steel fibers, and steel mesh reinforcement. Three different concrete mix designs were prepared as “Ultra High Performance (UHPFRC), High Performance (HPFRC) and Conventional (CFRC) Fiber Reinforced Concrete”. The content of hybrid steel fibers was approximately 5% in the UHPFRC and HPFRC mixtures, while the steel fiber content was approximately 2.5% in the CFRC mixture. In addition, a plain state of each mixture was produced. Mechanical properties of concrete were determined in experimental studies. In addition to the fracture energy and impact strength, two important indicators of ballistic performance of concrete are examined, which are the penetration depth and damage area. The results of the study show that the depth of penetration in UHPFRC was around 35% less than that in HPFRC. It was determined that the mixtures of UHPFRC and HPFRC containing 5% by volume of hybrid steel fibers showed superior performance (smaller crater diameter and the less projectile penetration depth) against armor-piercing projectiles in ballistic tests and could be used in defense structures.

Abstract:

The working principle of silicon micro-resonator system was firstly introduced. An intelligence silicon micro-resonator system design and realization was presented in focus. Its two step working flows for roughness and fineness searching and digital interface technology were analyzed in detail. Combined with experimental data and sweeping curve, two different searching results came out under different vacuum circumstance and its working performance was well evaluated.

Lateral Vibration Analyses of Flying Vehicle under Thrust and Drag

Song Jian

Strategic Study of CAE 2000, Volume 2, Issue 10,   Pages 63-72

Abstract:

In this paper, the influence of thrust and air drag on rocket lateral vibration is studied, and the frequency reduction under the thrust and drag is analyzed. The formulas for evaluation of the changes of frequencies and vibration modes are obtained. The equations of transverse movement when nozzle connected rigidly with rocket and related boundary conditions form the basis for analyses. The conclusions obtained are applicable for active accelerating and passive decelerating parts of trajectory as well as the cruise flight when thrust and drag are balanced. The analyses show that for small thrust and small axial overload, the discrepancy resulted from different calculation methods is not big, whereas for the heavy overloaded case a more accurate solution is extremely necessary.

Nonlinear programming control using differential aerodynamic drag for CubeSat formation flying Article

Sheng-chao DENG, Tao MENG, Zhong-he JIN

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2017, Volume 18, Issue 7,   Pages 867-881 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.1500493

Abstract: Because of their volume and power limitation, it is difficult for CubeSats to configure a traditional propulsion system. Atmospheric drag is one of the space environmental forces that low-orbit satellites can use to realize orbit adjustment. This paper presents an integrated control strategy to achieve the desired in-track formation through the atmospheric drag difference, which will be used on ZJUCubeSat, the next pico-satellite of Zhejiang University and one of the participants of the international QB50 project. The primary mission of the QB50 project is to explore the near-Earth thermosphere and ionosphere at the orbital height of 90–300 km. Atmospheric drag cannot be ignored and has a major impact on both attitude and orbit of the satellite at this low orbital height. We conduct aerodynamics analysis and design a multidimensional nonlinear constraint programming (MNLP) strategy to calculate different desired area–mass ratios and corresponding hold times for orbit adjustment, taking both the semimajor axis and eccentricity into account. In addition, area–mass ratio adjustment is achieved by pitch attitude maneuver without any deployable mechanism or corresponding control. Numerical simulation based on ZJUCubeSat verifies the feasibility and advantage of this design.

A multi-sensor relation model for recognizing and localizing faults of machines based on network analysis

Frontiers of Mechanical Engineering 2023, Volume 18, Issue 2, doi: 10.1007/s11465-022-0736-9

Abstract: Recently, advanced sensing techniques ensure a large number of multivariate sensing data for intelligent fault diagnosis of machines. Given the advantage of obtaining accurate diagnosis results, multi-sensor fusion has long been studied in the fault diagnosis field. However, existing studies suffer from two weaknesses. First, the relations of multiple sensors are either neglected or calculated only to improve the diagnostic accuracy of fault types. Second, the localization for multi-source faults is seldom investigated, although locating the anomaly variable over multivariate sensing data for certain types of faults is desirable. This article attempts to overcome the above weaknesses by proposing a global method to recognize fault types and localize fault sources with the help of multi-sensor relations (MSRs). First, an MSR model is developed to learn MSRs automatically and further obtain fault recognition results. Second, centrality measures are employed to analyze the MSR graphs learned by the MSR model, and fault sources are therefore determined. The proposed method is demonstrated by experiments on an induction motor and a centrifugal pump. Results show the proposed method’s validity in diagnosing fault types and sources.
